Connie: Hi, I’m Connie. I live on the Sunshine Coast.

[Images move through to show an aerial view looking down on the Sunshine Coast area, and then the image changes to show Connie walking towards the camera and waving]

I’m lead singer in a band.

Been a part of it for five years.

Singing in a band gives me confidence because I can see what my strengths are and I can see that I can overcome nerves when I sing in front of people who I don’t know.

[Images move through to show a side and then facing view of Connie talking, Connie singing, and band members playing the drums and guitars]

I just surprise myself sometimes and I really love performing and I still get nervous but because I love performing I’d still keep on doing it regardless.

When things happen I have found that there’s times I’ve needed to go to friends for help, family or professionals.

Before I knew about the Disability Gateway I was getting information from people about organisations that I needed to go to.

When I found the Disability Gateway website I found that it was a very handy tool. I was happy to see everything in the one spot that I needed.

It’s like an information hub where you can find links to websites and information.

It was like I found a gem.
