Have your say on the National Disability Employment Strategy

The Australian Government through the Department of Social Services (the department) is developing an Employment Strategy to address the disadvantage experienced by people with disability looking for work.

The Employment Strategy will be a ten-year commitment to improve the employment outcomes for people with disability, supporting more jobseekers with disability into long term, meaningful employment.

It will be a key element of the Australian Government’s commitment under the National Disability Strategy to increase employment and economic inclusion for people with disability.

The Employment Strategy will aim to make meaningful changes to the way supports to jobseekers with disability are delivered, and empower employers to confidently recruit people with disability.

To inform the development of the Employment Strategy, the department is seeking your feedback and ideas on how we can achieve meaningful change. Your input will help ensure the Employment Strategy focuses on the issues that matter most to the community and is well designed to achieve positive outcomes.

How can you get involved?

The department has published a consultation paper on DSS Engage outlining the proposed vision and priority areas, key findings and suggested actions.

Everyone is invited to have their say – whether you are a person living with disability, carer, service provider, teacher, career counsellor, employer or member of the community – everyone’s voice matters!

For more information, go to the Consultation page on the DSS Engage website www.engage.dss.gov.au to read the consultation paper and find out how you can make a submission. Submissions close 9am (AEST) 17 May 2021.
