For International Day of People with Disability (IDPwD) this year, a new Yarning Guide is available to help First Nations communities talk about disability.

The guide shares real stories of First Nations people with disability and asks yarning questions to:

  • challenge stereotypes and negative attitudes
  • recognise the diversity and experiences of First Nations people with disability
  • provide information in a culturally safe way.

You don’t have to wait until IDPwD on 3 December. Use the IDPwD Yarning Guide to help start conversations about disability now.

An editable slideshow presentation is also available for local groups, workplaces and schools to run a yarning session.

These resources were co-designed with First Nations community members. They include original artwork by Aneika Kapeen, a Yaegl and Bundjalung artist.

Download the Yarning Guide and Community Yarning Session Template from the IDPwD website.
