Supporting inclusion in early childhood education and care

Early childhood educators can access resources to support inclusion of all children in mainstream early childhood education and care settings.

These resources were developed by the Australian Government in collaboration with representatives from the early childhood education and care sector, as part of the Early Childhood Targeted Action Plan.

Support for children with additional needs in early childhood

If your child has a disability or additional needs, they may be able to access extra support from early childhood services, childcare and kindergarten.

National Quality Framework

You can access resources and services about the early childhood education sector and National Quality Framework on the Australian Children's Education and Care Quality Authority (ACECQA) website.

Before School Education Services

You can visit the Western Australian Government website for information on before school education services.

Association for children with a disability

The Association for children with a disability provides a support line, workshops, information and resources to assist children with a disability and their families with early intervention and access to schools.

ACT Education Directorate

The ACT Education Directorate has a range of early childhood programs and supports for students with disability that your child may be eligible for.

AllPlay Learn

If your child has a disability or developmental challenges AllPlay Learn can support you with information and resources for parents, children, teachers and the community.

Victorian Department of Education and Training

The Victorian Government website provides information and services for families of children living with disability and additional needs. They may also be able to provide you with extra support for children with additional needs in early childhood.

NSW Centre for Effective Reading

This website provides evidence-based resources to help you support students with complex reading difficulties.

Australian Parenting Website

The Australian Government website RaisingChildren.net.au may be helpful if you are looking for parenting resources. On the website you will find a guide to disabilities, links to services and many other resources for families.
