Hi, I'm Gary, and today I'll be talking about the area of life that relates to transport.

Driving and parking your own car

Most local councils offer community transport to their residents who have limited or no access to private transport and have difficulty accessing conventional public transport. Contact your local council to find out about their community transport service.

Taxis and rideshare services

All states and territories have wheelchair accessible taxis (WATs). When booking a taxi, be sure to ask for a WAT if you need it. You may also want to check with your state or territory government about cheaper fares. Most state or territory governments will cover part of the cost of a taxi trip for people with disability.

Community transport

Other transport options can help you get from your home to common community areas. This can include community areas like the shopping centre or medical centre. Low-fare transport services are often provided by community centres or state and local government.

Transport

It can be tough getting around if your mobility is limited in any way. There are several options for you to help you get to where you need to go. The Australian and state and territory governments subsidise some transport options.
