Statewide Audiology Service

Tasmania has a statewide audiology service with a full range of diagnostic services including behavioural and electrophysiological tests, cochlear implant assessment and rehabilitation, newborn hearing screening and diagnostic assessment and support, and the provision of loan assistive listening devices to patients at Royal Hobart Hospital.

Flinders Medical Centre

The Flinders Medical Centre is a large public hospital, they conduct hearing assessments and are the only location in South Australia where you can access a public adult cochlear implant program.

Hearing Australia has a useful free e-book called Choices. It has information for parents and families of children who are newly diagnosed with hearing loss from birth to 12 years of age.

Hearing services

There are a wide range of free hearing services that you can access in the Northern Territory (NT) for people with hearing impairments.

Hearing Services Program, National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS)

If you have hearing loss you may be able to access hearing supports and aids through the Hearing Services Program. There is also a special program called the NDIS Early Childhood Early Intervention (ECEI) program for children aged 0–6 years who have just been diagnosed with a hearing problem.
