Mark: I was injured in a serious motorbike accident.

[Image changes to show Mark’s motorbike trophies, and then the image changes to show a strap and handle used to pull yourself up]

I broke my neck, fractured my back in two places, and ten bleeds on my brain which caused a stroke.

[Image changes to show Mark seated in his wheelchair talking to the camera, and the camera zooms in on Mark talking, and text appears: Mark]

Hi, my name is Mark. I’m 38.

[Image changes to show an aerial view looking down on the township of Clyde]

I live in Clyde, Gippsland, Victoria.

[Images move through to show a church, a car moving down a street, and a photo of Mark and Masooma getting married]

Masooma is my wife of a year now.

[Image changes to show Masooma walking with Mark as he wheels his wheelchair, and then the image shows both of them laughing together]

She is a big part of my life and she is from the deaf community.

[Images move through to show a display of bunches of flowers, Masooma picking up a bunch,  Mark giving the thumbs up symbol, Mark talking to the camera, and Mark using a laptop]

The moment I discovered Disability Gateway it was really exciting to know there was so much information and services available in one place.

[Image changes to show Mark looking at the laptop, and then the image changes to show Mark talking to the camera, and then the image changes to show Mark looking at the laptop again]

It’s got different areas like income, transport and finances.

[Images move through of Mark looking at the laptop, Mark talking to the camera, a close view of Mark, Mark being put into an access cab, and a close view of his wheelchair in the cab]

One of the areas on the Disability Gateway that I’m really interested in is transport because I have a lot to do with that on a daily basis.

[Images move through of Mark moving into the access cab via the ramp, Mark talking to the camera, Mark inside the taxi, and the taxi driver removing Mark from the access cab via the ramp]

One of the services I found out about was the multipurpose taxi programme card which gives you half price taxis up to a certain amount.

[Image changes to show Mark talking to the camera, and then the image changes to show the taxi driver lowering Mark on the ramp and both of them smiling]

That information I was only able to find out off a taxi driver himself.

[Image changes to show Mark being lowered onto the ground by the taxi driver, and then the image changes to show Mark talking to the camera, and the camera zooms in on Mark talking]

Even the doctor didn’t know it when I asked.

[Image changes to show Mark signing to Masooma in a kitchen area]

If there was a website that had all the information in one place back in the day it would have been a great asset.

[Images move through to show a close views of Mark and Masooma talking and looking at a laptop screen together]

I feel reassured to know that the information and services I need from the disability community are available on one site.
