The Strategy and supporting documents

Australia’s Disability Strategy 2021–2031 is the Australian Government’s plan to make life better for people with disability. There are other documents that support the Strategy. These supporting documents help implement the Strategy and report on how well things are going.

Australia’s Disability Strategy 2021–2031 is the plan to make Australia more accessible and inclusive. The Strategy will last for 10 years until 2031.

The Outcomes Framework supports the Strategy reporting. It talks about how we will track and report on the 7 outcomes. We want to know how well we’re going with the priorities in each outcome area.

The Data Improvement Plan

The Data Improvement Plan supports the Strategy reporting. It talks about improving the data we collect for the Strategy. When we talk about data, we mean:

  • information
  • records.

If we have better data, we will have better reporting on how things are going.

The Targeted Action Plans

We use Targeted Action Plans to support the Strategy implementation. The plans talk about what governments will do to help get the outcomes we want. There are many plans. Each plan focuses on one outcome area. They last for 2 or 3 years.

The Roadmap

The Roadmap document supports the Strategy implementation. It shows when important Strategy milestones will happen over the 10 years. Milestones are important progress points. They could be:

  • events
  • activities.

Tools to help you apply the Strategy

We have other documents and tools to support the Strategy implementation. We want to support everyone’s work to get the Strategy’s outcomes we want. 

We have a Toolkit to support people with disability to be confident to engage in evaluations and ensure evaluations are accessible and inclusive. It has 3 parts:

  1. Getting involved in evaluation as a person with disability
  2. For evaluators and evaluation commissioners
  3. Fact sheets, resources and checklists

The Strategy review in 2024
